About the Awards

The Recreation for Life Foundation and its partner, Alberta Recreation and Parks Association, (ARPA) launched the Recreation Industry Awards of Excellence on Thursday, April 15, 2010.

We are now gearing up for the 2012 event and are very excited as the inaugural event proved to be a huge success. We anticipate a whole new array of award nominations and the event will be hosted in Calgary on Thursday May 10th, 2012 at Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. Recipients will be acknowledged at this biennial prestigious awards gala event and ceremony.

The intent of this program is to honour achievement, excellence, creativity, and innovation by Alberta's corporate sector and reinforces the critical role business people and companies play in enhancing personal health, community well-being, and quality of life and linked directly to recreation and parks development.

Provincial recreation and parks provides delivery to three main sectors; public sector (government), the voluntary sector and the private/corporate sector. This awards program is targeted specifically to the private and corporate industry sectors.

The Recreation for Life Foundation Recreation Industry Awards of Excellence is a province-wide initiative that recognizes the achievements of individuals or teams within corporations, businesses and private sector who symbolize the very best in our sector and communities.

The awards will showcase and celebrate best practices, encourage emulation and draw attention to the value of Alberta companies and entrepreneurs within the recreation and parks industry in Alberta.

The awards will focus on innovations in land development, architecture, manufacturing, retail, engineering, marketing and related entrepreneurial leadership.

Using recreation as a catalyst, these contributors are those who contribute to healthier and more active communities by utilizing and applying an understanding of community commitment and development strategies.
